The Program of the Fontane City

Neuruppin, 70 km from Berlin, is ideally located close to the Ruppiner See and is appreciated by cultural and nature lovers. As the birthplace of Theodor Fontane, Neuruppin is the authentic place to experience the author. Since 1998, the 100th anniversary of his death, Neuruppin has been given the nickname “Fontanestadt” and thus acknowledges its cultural identity.

The city looks to the year 2019 with particular tension, because it is the central venue of the Fontane Year. The jubilee year will be opened on March 30 and finished on December 30, 2019. In addition to major highlights such as the main exhibition in the Museum Neuruppin, the WORD&PLAY! Youth Project and the Fontane Festival, numerous actors participate in the diverse program.

The detailed program of the Fontanestadt Neuruppin and the district of Ostprignitz-Ruppin can be found in the event calendar.
